The International Harp Contest -- November 22 - 6 December, 2012 in Israel

 

All repertoire in the program for the 18th International Harp Contest, a program of original works for harp, must be performed from memory, EXCEPT the ISRAELI COMPOSITION in Stage I (TBA), the BENJAMIN BRITTEN and R. Stage I:

 

Sonata in G - C.P.E. Bach

Israeli composition to be announced

Choose one of the following three: Suite pour Harpe - Jean Francaix  

Suite for Harp Op. 83 - Benjamin Britten

Classical Suite - Lynn Palmer

Rhapsodie - Marcel Grandjany  

 

 

 

Stage II:  

 

Choose one of the following three:

Sonata Op. 32 per arpa - Marie-Martin Marin  

Sonata Op. 18, No 1 per arpa - Pierre Dalvimare  

Sonata per arpa - Giovanni Battista Viotti

Prélude Pour Harpe - André Jolivet  

Free choice contemporary work (Composed after 1985; duration not less than 5 nor more than 7 minutes; preferably by a composer from the contestant’s own country; may be a movement from a larger work.)

Stage III: Semi-final: 

The Crown of Ariadne for solo harp and percussion (percussion is performed by solo harpist)- R. Murray Schafer  

Canticle V “The Death of St. Narcissus” (T. S. Eliot) for high voice and harp - Benjamin Britten  

All percussion instruments for R. Murray Schafer The Crown of Ariadne, as well as the singer for Benjamin Britten Canticle V “The Death of St. Narcissus”, will be provided by the International Harp Contest in Israel. 

 

Final Stage:  

 

Danses: Danse Sacrée & Danse Profane - Claude Debussy  

On WILLOWS and BIRCHES Concerto for Harp and Orchestra - John Williams
