Harp Professor: Jacquelyn Venter Ridder
Jacquelyn Venter Ridder is the principal harpist of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony. She has also performed with the Cedar Rapids Symphony, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra, South East Iowa Symphony Orchestra, Central Iowa Symphony, the Oberlin Orchestra, the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra, and the University of Northern Iowa performing ensembles. In 2004 she was a featured soloist at the Crème de la Crème Benefit Concert for the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.
Ms. Venter Ridder received her Master of Music Degree in Harp Performance from the University of Northern Iowa and her Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. During her years at Oberlin she also studied at the legendary Salzedo Summer Harp Colony in Camden, Maine. Her teachers include Yolanda Kondonassis, Alice Chalifoux, Mary Beckman and Gretchen Brumwell.
Audition Requirements: Students are strongly encouraged to schedule a scholarship audition for private lesson study. This audition may be scheduled any time during the year before March 1 by calling the Admissions Department (1-800-458-8437).
Ensemble auditions take place in the spring and fall semesters.
Ensembles Available: Chamber Orchestra, Jazz Ensembles, Philharmonia
Scholarship Available: Music Scholarships are available to incoming freshman music majors on the basis of performance skills and the needs of the department. These scholarships are available to music majors in voice, winds, percussion, and keyboard, and to both music and non-music majors in strings. Scholarship auditions are held by the department during February each year.
